An Interview with Lugui Tillier: Exploring Bitcoin, Ordinals, and the Future of Crypto through 6 Questions

Lugui Tillier, a dual citizen of Belgium and Brazil, is the sales manager for Lumx Studios, a leading cryptocurrency firm in Rio de Janeiro. His passion for cryptocurrency was ignited by a friend and eventually led him to his current role at Lumx in 2021.

Tillier’s journey into crypto began with the influence of his friend’s father, who founded the first crypto firm in Brazil in 2016. Intrigued by the potential of blockchain technology, Tillier started studying Bitcoin in 2019 and later joined Lumx.

At Lumx, Tillier’s role as the sales manager involves building and maintaining relationships with blockchains and protocols. Lumx specializes in providing blockchain abstraction solutions for large enterprises, helping them integrate blockchain into their businesses and facilitating projects and experiments on blockchain. They offer services such as payment solutions and decentralized identity solutions.

In terms of personal investments, Tillier is particularly interested in layer 2 solutions like Polygon, Arbitrum, ZK-Sync, and Linea. He believes that layer 2s are better prepared for the next wave of blockchain development and scalability. Additionally, Tillier is enthusiastic about Bitcoin Ordinals and Ordinal Maxi Biz (OMB), as he sees an explosion of nonfungible tokens (NFTs) being built on Bitcoin.

Looking ahead, Tillier envisions Bitcoin and Ethereum as the main consensus platforms in the world in the next 10 years. He believes that Bitcoin will transition from being solely an asset to becoming a platform for storing and trading other assets. Ethereum, on the other hand, is already seen as a platform with various applications and layers built around it.

The main hurdle to mass adoption of blockchain technology, according to Tillier, is its complexity. The infrastructure and tools surrounding blockchain can be challenging for both end-users and traditional companies. However, emerging abstraction solutions are helping to lower the barrier to entry and make blockchain more accessible to a wider audience.

In his free time, Tillier enjoys studying philosophy, particularly stoicism. He finds solace in the teachings of stoicism, which emphasize cultivating inner peace and focusing on things beyond one’s control. This philosophy helps him navigate the volatile and unpredictable world of crypto both personally and professionally.
