The registration of an Ethereum trust by BlackRock in Delaware could indicate that the company is taking steps towards filing for a spot Ether exchange-traded fund (ETF). The entity, named iShares Ethereum Trust, was registered on November 9th by BlackRock’s managing director, Daniel Schweiger. While there have been previous applications for spot ETH ETFs, none have been approved yet. The SEC is expected to make decisions on applications from ARK 21Shares and VanEck in late December. In addition, BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF is currently under consideration by the SEC. The news of BlackRock’s registration has caused a 6.98% increase in the price of ETH, which has surpassed $2,000.
