Scroll co-founder Ye Zhang is working on a community-driven decentralized scaling solution for Ethereum called Scroll. The project aims to stay true to Ethereum’s values and principles while scaling the network. Zhang described the project as “idealistic” and driven by a shared vision rather than just solving computational problems. The zkEVM (zero-knowledge EVM) is set to launch in the coming weeks after extensive testing and audits. Zhang believes that ZK-rollups are the best layer-2 scaling solution, offering both cost-effectiveness and security. However, Scroll faces competition from other zkEVM solutions in the market. Despite some initial centralization, the roadmap for Scroll includes further decentralization over time.
