Vitalik Buterin’s X account breached, resulting in over $691K stolen from victims’ wallets

Following the breach of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s X (formerly Twitter) account, victims reportedly lost over $691,000 after clicking on a malicious link promoting a free NFT. The hacker shared the link on Buterin’s account, enticing victims to connect their wallets and stealing their funds. Ethereum developer Bok Khoo also suffered losses in his CryptoPunk NFT collection. The prevailing floor price for a CryptoPunk NFT is approximately $76,837. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has been informing his followers about the hacker’s activities, with the most valuable NFT stolen being worth approximately $250,543. Some users have criticized Buterin for not implementing sufficient security measures for his X account, but ZachXBT argues that his high profile makes him susceptible to various hacking attempts.
