William Mapan, an NFT Collector, demonstrates the concept of generative art with a crayon and dice

Generative artist William Mapan’s latest collection, “Distance,” sold out in less than 24 hours despite launching during a weak NFT market. Mapan has a unique way of explaining generative art by comparing it to drawing on a piece of paper with a crayon and dice. He builds a set of rules and introduces randomness to create unique artworks. Mapan’s work blurs the line between physical and digital, sparking curiosity and triggering emotions in viewers. He credits artist Matt Deslauriers for introducing him to art on the blockchain. Mapan’s notable sales include his “Anticyclone” collection, with one piece selling for 182 ETH. He recommends paying attention to up-and-coming artist Anna Lucia. In terms of influences, he is inspired by the abstract expressionism movement and artists pushing boundaries in modern-day art. Mapan’s favorite NFT in his wallet is “Horizon(te)s #5” by Iskra Velitchkova and Zach Lieberman. He listens to Kendrick Lamar and Sofiane Pamart while creating art. Mapan’s “Distance” collection, a collaboration with Cactoid Labs and LACMA, sold out and has seen significant secondary sales volume. The Cool Cats NFT collection will be featured in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, becoming the first NFT collection to be showcased. The Nouns DAO fork has concluded, with some NFT holders opting into the fork and others continuing with the original structure.
